That's the kicker. The key lock cylinders are switches, not mechanical. So without power, you get nothing.

Very true. I helped a friend build about 100 feet offense and he spent 2600 bucks just on materials. Granted, about half of the fence was wrought iron, still expensive nonetheless.

Edit: also, my moms Rav-4 has the keyless everything, which I am not a fan of. Seems like ifthe battery goes you're SOL.
