Pork is not gross but i would not want to see a entire pig being cooked being a kid. I had a hard enough time eating a fish that still looks like a fish.

hell i lassoed(sp?) a small pig and shot it in the head when i was younger and out visiting my family that lived out in the country. after that i dragged it to a table and cut the head off and helped clean it all the way. i was maybe 9 or 10?

and when i was 12ish i cut the head off of a live goat, that's some good eatin!

I've field dressed lots of animals, being around the country life quite a bit when I was a kid. Killed thousands of chickens, nuetered bulls, helped the studs mate, etc. I've never done the pig or goat roast myself, but I want to so bad. Just need a place to do it. My backyard really wouldn't be a good place to do it. I could do it up at the farm, but I think a whole pig or goat would be a waste for just a few people.

Its ok to eat it, but not to see where it comes from? I don't get it. I make a point not to hide anything from my daughter, she can make her own decisions.

Pig pickins' have been common in the South for decades. What's the big deal about roasting a whole pig in front of a kid?
