I'd be down to go. I work with the military and all my co workers (and my self) are prior military. It shouldn't be an issue as long as I'm not on travel.

We did something similar last summer when we were drinking at Tigins in Temrinal D, well into an eight hour mechanical delay. Picked up the tab for three guys in fatigues that we invited over to eat and drink. Ouch. Always worth it though.

BTW, if anyone travels, that's an easy thing to do if you don't have time to make it the airport otherwise. You will always find service men/women around the area if they are not in the Admirals Club (I think ther still get in free).

Coming back from Iraq in 1991 we had a layover at JFK. There was a group of older people (probably retirees with a lot of time to kill) there supporting us.

        It was a great experience.

A DFWM welcome would be great.

Ya, all you need is a CAC to get in, but a lot just hang around.

Had someone pick up a mine and a buddies tab at Fridays the last time we left. We asked for our check and the waitress said it was already taken care of, only problem was the guy already left so we couldn't even thank him. Was completly unexpected, but overly appreaciated.

Right. I'll never let them know and just do it. Kinda like that AFN commercial. LOL

I can understand that, I wouldn't ever tell them I did it either, just as the person recieving the gift it would be nice to show graditude.

I swear I've seen every single AFN commercial 10,000 times but can't think of which one you're talking about.

Airman is with his wife at dinner and asks for the check, but the waiter said it's already been taken care of.

Ive never gone to the airport to welcome them but on many occasions I have bought their table a meal when they are in uniform. Couple times they were told by the waitress and their thanks were so genuine and their appreciation so true that it brought a tear to my eye. I prefer it though when they don't know and they are just happy to be somewhere that they are appreciated. I was never able to serve and don't have much money but I have great respect for those that do. My best friend was a Marine and to hear some of the stories..... well the soldiers deserve more when they come back.

That disgusts me to this day. I was born during Nam and my Dad retired in 68. I was just old enough to be disgusted by it.
                        Thank you for your service.
I've gone out to D/FW several times since I got out, to try to do my part to ensure that nobody has to ever come home to that kind of treatment again.

I was at DFW last night for a flight that was delayed twice... I wound up sitting next to an Army E5 at Chili's. We bs'd for about 2 hrs, he was enroute back home from Afghanistan after 9mo.

I bought his dinner and had a great convo. I just wished that people acknowledged the hardships that they go through and it didn't take a tragedy like 9/11 for people to actually appreciate their "National Border Patrol".

My drinking days are few and far between, so it'll be nice to kick back a cold one and make some new friends along the way.
awesome, well, i'll be flying into ft. campbell since thats where we are stationed at, but what i was sayin was in september when i PCS to ft. bliss, i would like to stop by dallas. once im moved in at bliss, i think i'll be like 8 hours or so away from dallas, so on my passes and what not im sure i would be able to come around no problem.
