T/C I wish I could get some good shots like that one you posted...the ones I've tried to get close to were either rain wrapped or I couldn't get close enough due to safety...this last pic is what I mean by safety concerns...took it in 94' in Desoto (brand new City Hall at Hampton and Pleasant Run) as I somehow managed to not die when I ran into the back side of it as it crossed I35 before it hit Lancaster....

Took this in April 2004. This is looking southwest on 67 at about Ellens Fairway in Cedar Hill. I didn't want to get any closer because of hail.

This was taken last spring as it passed I35 near Waxahachie..it is NOT a tornado, but the same storm had a reported tornado in Midlothian 5 minutes earlier and DPS was stopping cars on I35 when they saw this rain shaft approaching the freeway.

This is Desoto's "new" City Hall about 1 minute after an F3 tornado mowed it down in 1994..maintenance vehicles upside down in parking lot, all the utility poles on Pleasant Run were down..and I had 3 flat tires and a shattered passenger side window and busted headlights. If I had been going 2mph faster on I35 I would probably have died. I won't chase at night because of this.

MikeB, thats pretty cool. I've thought about studying Meteorology, just wish they had some local schools that offered such a program. Seems the closest ones are in OK or A&M
We looked at A&M and they just didn't seem to want/need her as a student. OU bent over backwards to get her, and they have the national weather service building right there on campus (it's actually a part of the OU campus) - it was a no brainer. Shes happy as a clam up there, and she gets to study in the national weather service building too. Boomer Sooner LOL......

That time of year again, who's ready to go? Go figure I'm out of town for the setup tomorrow, but I'll be pretty available all season.

Also, even if you aren't chasing, now is the time for you and your family to get your plan together! Get down to the first floor and put as many walls between you and outside that you can.

My daughter and her boyfriend are both chasers. He runs a web site called Texas storm chasers. They are college students and both are studying meterology; it is their passion. I try not to worry about it too much.

I've never personally met your daughter but know her via networking and have talked to her a couple times.

Yeah, my folks aren't the biggest fans of my hobby lol especially after a close call last year. It's addicting though.
