Yeah, I posted a link in another thread from a 12-21-2012 forum where a dude predicted the March 11th quake back in January. He explained why and it had a lot to do with tidal forces involving the moon and some passing comet. In that same thread, he also warned of a possible west coast event in the later half of March.

He nailed the Japan quake... I'm just glad I don't live on the west coast.

Time to head to Wal-Mart to stock up on bread, milk, bottled water, and ammo.
In seriousness.......I tend to listen up when people have a record of accuracy like this guy..and based on all the activity in Hawaii, Japan, New Zealand...hell...even here in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas in the last few weeks....I would not want to be on the West coast right about now. Of course that could change to the east if anything happens on the New Madrid fault..remember..there were very few people living in the affected areas of Missouri in 1812...now in 2010...a big earthquake there will probably be the worst natural disaster in the history of the US.....it will probably shake buildings in Dallas significantly. Hundreds of thousands could be injured or killed. Guess we'll know in a few days.

I personally wouldn't want to live on the West Coast regardless of it's earthquake situation.

Get ready! My earthquake alert app says there was 3.0 in central California just a few hours ago!

When I lived in SoCal, I was about 1/4 mile from the San Andreas fault (foothills of San Bernardino moutains) and there were small ones like that all the time.

If you look at the USGS website, CA has been having a ton of small earthquakes lately.

Don't apply your own causality to the situation though. Look at the data.
Is it significant to CA or is it some sort of global normalizing?

Or is that just plain ol background noise for CA?

I have always heard about the fault line from GP to Las Colinas but wondered why we have never had a big one. Lots of people always looked at me funny when I told them thats why houses around the lake are so F'd up not to mention I20 in GP. I did a quick search and found this but really, could it not just be building up, or does ours move enough to where it doesnt ge hung up and have huge swings?

Meanwhile, the Dallas area has had a series of real earthquakes over in the end of this week. The biggest was about 3.0 on the Richter Scales, barely detectable to most people. But this is big stuff around here. We sit on some of the most geologically stable land in North America. Earthquakes are rare, and usually small.

We’ve had eight quakes in the past two days. Despite their low magnitude, a few people are worried. Students are interested, not least because they worry about a destructive quake. For people who live in Tornado Alley, fears of earthquakes seem odd, at least to those of us who grew up in more earthquake-prone provinces.

Here’s the list from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS):

Here are the earthquakes in the Map Centered at 33°N, 97°W area (go see the map), most recent at the top. (Some early events may be obscured by later ones.) Click on the underlined portion of an earthquake record in the list below for more information.

Makes me want to stay out of downtown for work for the time being.

Tie some rotten meat around your neck on Saturday so the search dogs can sniff you out more easily.
