I wasn't sure if I should put this here or in the home improvement forum since it is kind of a home thing...
I am seriously considering building a wind turbine/generator. I have a fairly simple design for the turbine itself but I am having a difficult time coming up with parts for the grid tie/controller electronics without spending 10 grand or buying cheapo chinese stuff that may burn my house down. The wind energy forums that I have come across just plain suck so they are no help.
I recently moved out to the country and live on a hill with almost 80 acres surrounding me. Its very windy most of the time, 20-40 mph and every time I walk outside I just see dollar signs flying by....
Anyone on here played with wind energy?
I want to do it without a battery bank. Just directly into my utility. I am thinking 3- 3000 watt turbines so if one breaks I still have 60% of my output available.
Any thoughts?
