My understanding is they can freeze it if a debt is owed and a judgement obtained. Sometimes, but rarely they can freeze it while waiting for court proceedings if they can prove to a judge it is likely that he will hide assets.

then you have money debited from my account and sent to another account to pay for my step moms attorney. whatever i will call my bank and just have that canceled. I NEVER authorized that to be debited from my account.

I have an honest question...I am not going to call you names or bash you like some of the natives on here...but please explain to me why you think that your friend is entitled to any more of Chris' father's money? What, exactly, did the will state? I can understand her argument (though I dont agree) about the date that the tax payments should have started, but why is it that she feels entitled (and you) to further payments of $11k/month? She was his wife and apparently, he stated in his will what he wanted done with his estate. Why trash the man's memory...as well as his only son's name...on here and in the courts? It's an unfortunate event of course...but Chris lost his father. Your friend only lost her ticket to the easy life. Heck, she had 10yrs of the easy life after the man's death. Why not just move on? You say she wants what's hers. How is it hers? Did she earn it? Just being someone's wife for a couple years doesnt entitle one to a lifetime of entitlement should the wealthy spouse die...unless the will stated as much. If your friend was such the great wife/person, the man would have made sure she was taken care of the rest of her life...many would argue that she was taken care of the rest of her life, however, she spent all the money and didnt get a job and now the money's gone and she has been living off someone else for so long she is no longer marketable..in the job world, or in the sell your soul for a rich husband world. As a true friend, you would give her some tough love and help her do the right thing. You appear to be driven solely by the 30% you were promised. That is a conflict of interest if you ask me...you are not a friend. Just another leech...I feel bad for Chris having to deal with this shit. Let this be a lesson to the single men out there.
