      • I got off the phone with American Airlines. They said I can reschedule my flight from March 16 to March 25 with no extra charges.

What do you guys think? Two weeks long enough? Keep in mind that I'm not going any further north than Tokyo and will mainly be south of Tokyo..

Can you give it about 48 hours before rescheduling. I'd at least wait a solid day for better assessment.

Edit: Wow, boats in the harbor getting jacked up now.
              Thanks!

This is so sad. Sgt. Beavis-glad to hear your family is ok-I don't even want to think about how bad this is going to be after it's all said and done with.

Source? As of 20 min before your post there was still no venting.

Not that it's incredibly small or anything, but those are just aftershocks. 6.6 is 2800 times less energy released than the 8.9

"The March 11 earthquake was preceded by a series of large foreshocks over the previous two days.
"There was a 7.2 on March 9, not far from the epicenter of the magnitude 8.9. It looks at this point like that was a foreshock of the 8.9 event," Williams told Fox News. The foreshocks continued with a further three earthquakes greater than 6.0 magnitude on the same day.

"We've got 35 [aftershocks] now greater than magnitude 5 -- and there's probably hundreds of magnitude 3 and 4." There have been 13 greater than magnitude 6, he said. "Over the next month, there will be thousands of aftershocks -- many of them felt," he said.

Yeah, wait a few hours after day dawns over there and the situation is re-evaluated.

yea, I know they are aftershocks and aren't near as big. But 6.6 isn't something to take lightly.

There are several on ustream.tv. However they are in Japanese...

However, I found this blogger that is translating the local news reports into English. It is a bit convoluted but he's been awake for a long time...
