This is total BS. Merchant fees for accepting cards are a giant kick in the balls for businesses. Same with rewards programs. Merchants pay for that shit (not your bank) with higher fees per transaction. I use cash often, but I use plastic quite often...
but I NEVER run a card as debit... what's the point? get points and buyer protection if you're going to use plastic!

A lot of people can just work around this, but it does suck a little bit. The wife and I solely use credit cards for rewards and such - then pay them off monthly. (generally speaking we use only credit, some places call for cash or debit cards)
However, not everyone is able to get decent credit cards for a variety of reasons.
