It's at the top of Mustang Island. It will have a lot of college students, but they won't be crackheads from every college in the country, prices will be cheaper, and it's super relaxed. The beach is the same.

It's S of Corpus. Nice small town without being completely overrun with the tourist bullshit(It's still there, just not as bad as Padre).

Thats over 700 just to fly and rent a car minus hotel which is about $200-$300 for 4 nights bringing it to almost a grand minus eating/entertainment/souvenirs of $400 bringing it to about 1400-1500.

Going from here.. rent a car.. $140, hotel..$250 for 4 nights, gas..lets say 5 tanks at $30 each= $150... and the rest etc bringing it to around $1000 est.
Yea $600 is alot. Time to break out the dvds and get to truckin.

told the wife about Port Aransas and she hasnt heard of it either but she doesnt mind going there either. We may just change pace and head over there for a few days. The drive is between 3- 3.5 hrs closer

Main reason for going is to relax by the beach, eat some good seafood and sight-see etc. We've been to Galveston many times and wanted a change.

I have a nice fishing pole and gear but its rarely ever used. I may pick up a license and take the fishing gear with me!

We're planning on going May 9 for the week.. early planning
You'll be better off in May. It won't be nearly as packed then as it is right now. Still, for relaxation, you can find something much closer.

                    Good luck.

It will take you at least 2-3 hours tovdrive the last 30 miles if you plan on going during spring break so plan on 12-13 hours minimum. And FYI don't even do 1 mph over the speed limit down there, wife and i were pulled over for 36 in a 35

Went 2 years ago, took about 9-9.5 hours I believe but we were hauling ass with all the other college kids. If you're not wanting a crazy packed, college drunk fest, do nit go to padre. If you do want to party balls then go for it

Honestly you are insane if you want to go down there this time of year and are over the age of 25

Port Aransas is awesome.....we usually go every year and rent a condo for a week at the "El Cortez" which is right on the beach. There are 3-4 real awesome places to eat, a grocery store, fast food, lots of gas stations, a golf course, and the charter boats for fishing are cheap.

My buddy and I were supposed to go to Padre next week for SB. Sadly he didn't come through on his part. So.....I'll be in DF-dub next week.
