    (c) A bank may charge against the account of a customer a check that is otherwise properly payable from the account, even though payment was made before the date of the check, unless the customer has given notice to the bank of the postdating describing the check with reasonable certainty. The notice is effective for the period stated in Section 4-403(b) for stop-payment orders, and must be received at such time and in such manner as to afford the bank a reasonable opportunity to act on it before the bank takes any action with respect to the check described in Section 4-303. If a bank charges against the account of a customer a check before the date stated in the notice of postdating, the bank is liable for damages for the loss resulting from its act. The loss may include damages for dishonor of subsequent items under Section 4-402.

Nah, lesson learned, I never should have trusted the seller's agent.

I am not a good liar anyways and I only got hosed for $460 since I canceled the good check to him.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Dude i get bad check from time to time.you have to rmember that person has a story.i would call them which is uncomfortable for both parties.but what if sumthing came up and she had to put u on hold.

Remember u could be in there shoes one day.what would u want some one to do for u if u had had bad check.if they ignoreu.take it to the distric attornys office.that is not a sure way to recover the funds

IF U DO GO TO D.A OFFICE U HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE CHECK TO RETURN TO U IN THE MAIL.

I've stopped taking checks as well (almost). I'll only accept checks from businesses that I've taken them from in the past and that's only as a professional courtesy. I do inform them that we no longer take checks, but since they weren't informed before hand I will do it one last time. Most small business owners are in the same boat and very understanding so it hasn't been an issue so far.

If a customer can't pay debit or credit and only has checks, then I'll offer to have a driver stop at an ATM or bank branch when taking the customer and their vehicle to the drop off location. So far no one has really complained and I haven't lost any business from starting a no check policy. Most people are understanding. It's just unfortunate that a few ruined it for everyone!

Have you had any of them where your driver stopped at a bank branch and had them come back out with pennies to pay you with?
