Anyone live out that way? I was curious if the city was nice and what type of community it is. How much room for growth out there? Thinking of joining RPD...

Rowlett is where the Garland rich live, if you want to call it that. Its not very big, it's bordered by Sachse, Garland, Rockwall, Mesquite and Dallas Co Unicorp. not very big and the traffic is horrendous (sp?). They just got a Home Depot a few years back a JITB and McD's, 2 7-11's and a QT...Originally posted by SilverbackLook all you want, she can't find anyone else who treats her as bad as I do, and I keep her self esteem so low, she wouldn't think twice about going anywhere else.

Rowlett is great. I am very happy here, bought my house about 6 years ago.
The PD is a really good group of folks. I did the Citizen's Police Academy and enjoyed working with most of the LEOs.
I work by downtown and my commute is not that bad, about 35-45 minutes.
I wish Long John Silver was back, but there is a Chicken Express that is great.
You don't have the pretentious 30-thousandair type you see up north of the metroplex. Mostly people in thier mid-30s and 40s who have a family.WRX

PGBT is being built right through the middle of the city. From Firewheel Mall a B-line more or less to Rockwall (i30)
There is some land to build on, I see several new areas that have been zoned and planned for new communities.
The Traffic can suck at times, but no more that many other main roads in most large cities.WRX

I've lived in Rowlett for two years now I enjoy it. Has a small town feel to it for me close to everything. Traffic can be bad depending on time frame but there's ways around it. Lots of people fish out of Rowlett creek idk why since it smells from the water treatment plant. There's a great mix of restaurants around and plenty of hole in the wall places. Rowlett Rd is watched like hawks by the police so beware of speeding through there. The police are good people at least the ones I've met/talked too.

Rowlett is a poser city. I avoid it as much as possible. Roads are shitty and there are too many motorcycle cops. My neighborhood (toler bay) was always under crime watch and there was a high amount of theft in our neighborhood. I only made it there for 6 years.
