Jerry Cantrel is Alice in Chains. Anybody that thinks Layne Staley made the band doesn't know shit about the band. Jerry and Layne did have a chemistry though. Sucks about the bassist, but he's the most easily replaced member. Jerry basically writes the songs, and everybody else does their thing around him.

History has proven the best music has been created under the heavy influence of drugs.

Nobody shit a brick. It's Mike Starr, not Mike Inez.

Yep. I was in Seattle a few years ago around the anniversary. They still have a gathering annually.

The more depressing number is that kids who were born the year Cobain died (same date) are in their 2nd year of driving. I think the chick sitting next to me was 2 at the time. Could be an opportunity for a history lesson and mustache ride.

Sad news. I watched that season of Celeb Rehab just because of Mike Starr. I was hoping he'd be able to recover fully and be back on the right path. Sucks to hear he passed away.

That is laughable. It seems you have no clue why everyone loved (you notice that is past-tense) the sound of that group.

Think about what drives you to do whatever it is you do. I'm going to guess it's having a really nice car, nice house, some cool toys and beautiful women. Imagine having all of that available 24/7, eventually you'd want something different. I mean once you've had a threesome, foursome, fivesome and maybe even full blown orgies with midgets and girls dressed as clowns you'll want the next step, which usually involves a crap load of coke while having an orgy. Then you realize all you really needed was the coke to have a good time, to hell with everything else. Then you need more for the same effect and start trying other drugs, even mixing them and eventually you OD.

Blacks OD as well. Len Bias, Jimmy Hendrix and Michael Jackson all come to mind. Heck Richard Pryor was a known crack head and Ray Charles was a heroin junky most of his career, they lucked out and didn't OD but I'm sure the drugs didn't help them live any longer. They both had many close calls though.

Actually Lane killed the band before he died.

Alice In Chains still has a bassist. Mike Starr had not been their bassist since "Dirt".
