Sadly, that could be the newsies way of dramatizing. "high rate of speed" could be the speed limit of 70 or whatever.

Trust me, I get spun up of motorcycle drivers who drive crazy too - but I get even more spun up when the news is not able to get proper details.

I have one personal example I will share.

I was driving up 360 a few years back. I was about to change lanes and checked my rear view and side. As I changed lanes, I checked my rear view again and pulled back to the left HARD. Got passed by a bike that was going easily 130+ in the lane I was about to occupy. Had I not checked, I am 100% certain I would be in the same spot as this van. I remember this so vividly because it really did fuck my head up for a bit.

Dumb fucking bike riders taking supreme risks end their lives and can forever change those that they involve when they do so.

I'm sorry that his star was extinguished so early. But if he really was being a dumb fucking bike rider I have zero sympathy for his actions.

I get that you know the guy and all, but making this statement is just dumb.

This is one of the biggest fears I have on the roads and people traveling too fast. Bikers assume a lot and generally just see their side of the argument.

This has happened to me a few times. Once or twice in the middle of the night coming home from work exhausted.

My understanding is the eyewitnesses have a different story. The van did stop. The driver checked out the damage to his van, then it took off. Showed no interest to the rider. His bike was an older honda superhawk, not really considered a crotch rocket.

If he was going too fast and rear ended the van, his death was entirely his own doing

It just goes to show how sick and tired people are of motorcycles acting like there are no regulatory rules of the road.

I saw a group riding west on I20 with about 6-8 of them riding up on one wheel just this Sunday when I was on my way to work. This was westbound I20 in Forest Hills. Some of them had the mohawk helmets..

Won't know anything until the driver of the van comes forward. Many seem to think that it was the rider's fault, if that was the case, then why would the van driver not only stop, but get out to inspect the damage to his vehicle then leave?

I've seen plenty of people act like douchebags on the road. Its not too hard to image someone brakechecking or swerving towards someone else with the intentions of fucking with someone then an impact occurs and then its gets real.

And when faced with trying to explain what happened to an officer and just driving away. Its easy to see the incentive to leave the scene.

Warrants and/or guilty conscience. Much more believable than anything else.

might have something to do with the fact that he was traveling at a high rate of speed and rear ended a van. it's hard to sympathize with people who act foolishly. how many of us have been passed by bikes on the interstate like we were standing still? it's sad and a high price to pay for being foolish, i agree, but still hard to sympathize.

i've been passed on the shoulder by sport bikes on I35 like i was standing still, but i was doing about 70 or so. it's hard to express or feel empathy when they eventually become a blood stain on the highway.

I feel no sympathy for the rider of the bike. I do however feel bad for his family. The biker was a dipshit if he was in-fact riding like a dipshit and he suffered the consequences of riding that way.
