Using their natural charcoal is also expensive but a must in order to get the best use/effect from it.

They come with a diverter for smoking/baking. You can cook beer can chicken using it and it's the best I've ever had. You can also use it (diverter) for baking pizza or bread/biscuits on.

The bad? They are stupid expensive, so I would suggest finding one on CL for cheaper than new. They also have a felt liner on the lid and base that will come off with time and you have to replace it, essentially gluing one back on. Kind of lame if you ask me.

I still have my gas grill and like it, and probably will never give it up. I can cook on it just fine too.

Also, get the electric coil starter too. It makes lighting a breeze.

But hows the flavor of the egg VS your propane grill? I know when I had a smoker years ago that if I cooked steaks on it they were so much better then on my propane grill. It was just a pain to fire it up for just Steaks.

Well, since my wife will only eat a fillet (as steaks go), I'll say that they are fairly close but the BGE version is still better. You just can't beat the flavor that natural lump charcoal gives to food. Chicken is off the charts man. For boneless/skinless breast, I'll marinate them for a few hours in McCormick's Sun dried tomato & basil marinade. They are always a hit.

You also can't beat Polo Asado cooked on a BGE. Again, no comparison.

Also, with the "egg", you only use as much charcoal as needed (you get used to knowing how much to use) for grilling, and it isn't a pain at all.

I ate at Sullivan's the other night, and my steak is just as good when I buy CAB Prime. The only difference is my Sullivan's bill was $200 for 2, and when I cook it at home it is ~$20.

I got mine for $685 (large) and I bought a used cart for $75. I spent another $100 on accessories. You don't see these on CL that often because nobody sells them once they've used them properly.

Night and day difference in flavor, quality, etc. My BGE vs any propane I've ever had - BGE wins 100% of the time. It does take a few minutes longer to get the grill going, but I cook my steaks at 550 for 7 minutes so my cook time is less.

Not sure where you're at but there's a little propane store on Belknap St in Haltom City that sells them. You won't get any special pricing but I haven't heard of any places disounting the "Egg" other than one I saw at Sam's and it only lasted one day.

The place in HC that sells them is on Belknap St. about 1/2 a mile east of the 377 (Denton Hwy) intersection. Look for a tall Rocket/Missle sitting out front.

I have the 18" (use to be the large) this is the smallest I would go. You can just fit a turkey in there for smoking. Anything smaller and you will not be happy.

My brother had distributor rights for them as a side job. I got mine free.

Hands down the best grill I have every had. If something happened to it today, I would go buy another one.

I don't know if I would like a ceramic grill that weighs that much being shipped to me. It is always good to inspect and pick one of these up in the store. One drop and these things are toast.

I do all my smoking on a Weber Performer. It does a fantastic job.

I have no problems with the Egg. It's a good product, I just think you can do just as good of a job smoking with something like my weber or many of the other quality smokers out there.

Soooo I went out and did a little research today after I pushed my propane grill out to the alley. The one at Costco is loaded out with the nest, side tables and double rack for 499.00. It is also oval shaped and pretty big. The best price I have found on the BGE was Capital Distributing on Inwood. It was 899.00 for the Large Egg, nest , side tables, bag of fuel, and starter logs. Ashers in Arlington wanted 829.00 for just the Egg. I kinda want to find a deal on the medium BGE but Costco may win the battle on this.

I would buy one from Costco without hesitation since everything they sell has a lifetime satisfaction guarantee. Damn, I love that store.

Go with a Large, at a minimum. That's what I have and wish I had the XL....I bought mine at BBQ's Galore about 4 years ago and paid $999.99 for the kit, including the nest, the fold out leaves, etc...Money well spent. I also have a Jenn-Aire gas grill that I never use anymore...BGE, FTW!!

Grill and smoker cannot be used in the same device. My smoker is not a grill and my grills are not my smoker. You can get a smoky flavor in a grill, but a grill can't quite fully be a smoker no matter how much you want it to be that way.

BGE are pretty cool for what they are though, but a smoker is a smoker. I'm swaying towards feeling that the BGE is a bad ass grill though.

Well put. I have an Egg and love it for grilling.
I think his point is that the fish got low balled, fucked in the catfish asshole and you paid half price. The worst part was the fish explaining to his fish friends why his asshole smelled like redneck

I smoked up some hot wings last night. I would agree with you on that statement and disagree at the same time. The egg kicks out some damn good food. Smoked or grilled.
