  • auto finance, TX resident but out of state...

    Any help here?

I'm looking at a new cummins. I'm a TX resident, active duty military and stationed in KY.

If I purchase in KY, and want TX plates, am I correct in assuming that I do NOT pay KY taxes?
It is my understanding that since my home of record is TX, I basically treat the deal as if I'm buying online. Once I receive it, I register and pay TX taxes.

    Any input?

You will have to bring it to TX for inspection and a green sheet before they will register it.

It depends on state to state if they work with each other on the sales tax call a Tx tax office and find out or just buy one in Tx and be done with it

Incorrect, it can be titled/registered by someone else designated by the owner on the owner's behalf when the owner buys the vehicle and is stationed out-of state.
