It wasn’t Ferrell’s first brush with the law.

In fact, he was supposed to be in jail when Irick was killed. Court records show Ferrell was arrested in February for violating his parole. But instead of sending him back to jail, the Board of Pardons and Paroles sent him to a halfway house in Houston.
    Go justice system!

I sent Kyle/Tyler a PM with the $100 offer. Joking around is all fine and dandy but this tool is as bad as...or worse than...5.0svo.

I agree, there is a reason he is banned from two or three other forums...pathetic.

This guy is 39, I expected the culprit to be alot younger than that WTF! When I am 39 I will be a retired stay at home Dad??

here was the initial story of the arrest.

Police arrested a 39-year-old Houston man on Sunday who is accused of gunning down a Good Samaritan during a purse snatching at a Meyerland gas station last week.

Anthony Ray Ferrell has been charged with capital murder, accused of shooting and killing 24-year-old Sam Irick, who was trying to intervene in Thursday's armed robbery.

Ferrell, who is in jail without bail, is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday. He has a criminal record that stretches back to 1991 and includes burglary and robbery charges, according to Harris County court records.

A Crime Stoppers tip helped authorities catch Ferrell, who was identified through surveillance video and witnesses, HPD spokesman John Cannon said.

"We are pleased to have this killer off the streets," said activist Quanell X, who had urged community members to come forward with information. "If they have in fact caught the right man, and this is the man who killed this Good Samaritan, this hero, then he truly is a cold-blooded killer."

Family members described Irick as an outgoing guy with lots of friends who enjoyed golf, soccer and fishing. While he was born in Fort Worth, Irick spent most of his life in the Houston area, attending Spring and Klein ISD schools.

Most recently, he was attending Houston Community College, working overtime at a machine shop and looking forward to a career in architecture. Randi Wood, his mother, told the Houston Chronicle that her son was always concerned with looking out for others and standing up for anyone being picked on.

Last week, HPD Sgt. Eli Cisneros predicted that the suspect would be easy to catch because of the high-quality surveillance video.

"It's not often that we get to actually see a capital murder that's actually captured on video that has audio as well," he said.

Amberly Wait, a San Antonio mother of three, was standing in line at the Chevron station in the 4600 block of Beechnut at the West Loop early Thursday when police say Ferrell approached with a pistol.

He jammed the weapon into the 44-year-old's abdomen and demanded her purse, police say. As Irick attempted to help her, police say Ferrell shot Irick once in the chest.

Irick died at Ben Taub General Hospital.

who says I wouldn't be thinking of others? In fact, I would be thinking about people more important to me than her and her 3 kids. Not only that, you act as if it was a given that the lady would have been shot. Chances are she loses a fake wallet and some cash. Instead, the dude loses his life. Don't get me wrong, sucks all the way around, but I have something to live for. I guess my point is, hope I am not standing next to you when you get held up at gun point because I am throwing my wallet at the dude and running.

I am a piece of shit because I don't want to die and I want to raise my own kid? Whatever dude. Oh pwetty pwease don't ban me. I like hanging around a bunch of gun toting republicans that think they are in charge of all that is moral and only their strong family values are what is right.

You dont know for a fact he wouldn't have shot her, had he got her purse and maybe him as well anyways for being a witness. Sometimes robberies happen that way as well. The point is, you do what is right and make sacrifices and risks. Its what defines a person and divides the selfish against the selfless.
