That being said, that posted distressed me. See you in Court!
How dare you offend me! People in this country wish that was the law, they could sue everyone when they don't get their way.

As much as I hate the idea, I don't see any way of slowing Westboro down, aside from tying them and their funds up in court. Any physical action against them makes them martyrs, and ends up fueling their expansion, ignoring them is virtually impossible due to the emotions attached to the events they choose.

And I don't mean that in a payment retribution manner, but simply keeping them constantly involved in defense of frivolous lawsuits.

It doesn't tie anything up though, the family members are the lawyers for a lot of the cases where they get taken to court. Hell Fred Phelps was a practicing lawyer in Kansas for years, he actually fought hard for civil rights for minorities.

At the end of the day what will happen is they will protest the wrong funeral. Some guy will have a son who was killed in Iraq and his son will be the only thing he had left in this world. He'll blow a few of these assholes into tiny pieces and then he'll shoot himself. Then they'll confine their protesting to that town in Kansas that they are from and that will be the end of it. I don't see the martyring as an issue, these people really have no followers outside of their little group.

I'm proud to see them not try to take away another freedom.

But, I don't agree with the protesting, the way it's geing done.

And I agree with Al, eventually someone will have their own vengence against them.

So, what would happen if I walk up to a cop and tell them they are going to hell and thank god for dead police officers?

It's your right but I don't think it'll end well for you.

They would ask you for an ID and then say you didn't identify yourself fast enough and arrest you. Everyone knows that you don't really have free speech around the police since they can just make up circumstances to turn you into a criminal...

Yea, I doubt it would either. I'm pretty sure i'd be shut up pretty quickly by some type of random arrest charge.

Hopefully someone shuts up those westboro idiots.

I still wish someone would just put a bullet in one of their heads at a protest. That will shut their asses up.
No it won't, it'll just make things worse, and cause an even bigger up roar.

You will go to jail. Why don't you try it and post back up the outcome?

Wouldn't it be a false arrest since I am able to express my freedom of speech?

                              Unlikely.

That seems like the leg they'd have to stand on - he was a danger to himself so we did it for his own good.

They could always do a 72hr admittance at the 10th floor, and if nothing else make your life hell for a little while.
