  • Question about swing sets/play sets

So we're still looking for a swing set and I came across this:

My question is, has anyone bought one like this and had to tear down/rebuild? Was it worth doing to get it at a discount? Thoughts?

    TIA

We got a very similar one that we reassembled. It was a PITA, and we did have to replace some of the boards, but it was better than paying full price, IMHO.

We bought one for our kids a few years ago from CL. It looks pretty identical to that one. If you have access to a 16' flat bed trailer, then you can break it down to about 3 sections and strap it down. It's definately worth it. As far as breaking it down completely and reassembling it...there's no way I'd do that.

Looking at that one, it looks like it can be done in 4 sections. The traingle on the end would come off(leave the triangle assembled), the top beam that holds the swings would come off, take off the slide, and get about 3-4 guys to carry the main section on the trailer and strap it down. Some of the bottom boards that help stabalize it may have to come off but that's no biggie.

Now getting that into your back yard will be the next challenge. I had to remove 2 sections of our fence. It was already in bad shape so that wasn't an issue for me.

She posted this because I was complaining about how much of an ass-beating it would be to try and disassemble that, keeping track of parts / bolts / etc, and then having to reassemble. Keeping it in larger sections is great, but then you have to carry those sections out to a trailer (which we would have to try and borrow). And there is no chance of a trailer getting onto our back-yard so that would require more carrying of said large sections.

Saving $200 but having to mess with taking it down does not seem like it would be worth it to me. I would rather buy a smaller set new and only have to dick with it once. It's so damn hot during the summer that it would get little use IMO anyways.
