Captivate. Great phone IMO. The fact that it's samsung and android alone should make you want it. The fact that it has kickass features just add to it's awesomeness. Oh, and they'll warranty it.

Another vote for the Captivate. Picked one up earlier this month and think it's a great phone.

Where's the option for windows mobile 7? You're going to have a tough time getting a good answer on these boards with so many iPhone haters. The iPhone is much easier to use than the captivate. IMO the pictures look better and the phone requires less maintenance (i.e. downloading a task manager and "killing" aps). If I were going to buy a phone today though, it would probably be a windows 7 device. I love the new operating system. The app support isn't there YET but I'm still pretty crazy about them.

I am just leery because I have a Samsung impression and I have had a LOT Of problems with it (touchscreen going out on two separate ones, locking up and having to reboot it, stuff like that) Any problems with it at all?

I voted Apple because everyone has one.

              I don't have an iPhone 4 tho.

None so far, but having had it for two weeks, it's a little early to tell.

I also had a Samsung Impression for over a year and aside from the Text bug (you have to reboot the phone ocassionaly cause texts don't send) I had no problems with it.

I have had task killer on my Nexus 1 since the first day and only used it a handfull of times when a certain program got stuck or was screwing up. Very rarely do I ever touch it.

I voted Captivate only because I like being able to customize so much on my phone. Apple, as nice as it is, keeps their crap on lock down and Im not a fan of that.

I'm an iPhone guy with an old 3g that I'm still very satisfied with. But the iPhone4 was underwhelming for me. Mr. Evil let me try out his HTC EVO 4G and I came away very impressed. I haven't tried out a Win7 phone yet but they look impressive. The new Palm Pre's are coming out soon and the OS looks pretty damn good (disclaimer: I work for HP) but the lack of a real hardware update makes me predict failure.

But for me personally, I'm not buying another 3G phone. I'll probably hold out for the LTE deployment by ATT and Verizon before I make a change.

As for the Samsung, based on what I'm seeing with the GalaxyS, I'd say go for it if you like it and it fits your needs.

I carry both an iPhone 4 and a captivate. I prefer my iPhone 4. I have no personal vendetta against either phone. I do not hold a grudge against the iPhone because it's made by apple.
If you carry anti-apple feelings, get the captivate. If you want a great user friendly phone, I'd get the iPhone.

I'm going through the exact same problem here. I'm upgrading, and I'm having a tough time decide whether to go with the IP4 (i've been an iPhone user since the original), or the Samsung captivate.

                        I flipped a coin and chose iP4.

I know nothing about the Captivate, but every Samsung phone I ever had was pure crap. I am one of the many "iPhone sheeple" and enjoy it with all of the apps that are available.
