Especially if he saw the kids in the back seat, thats fucking bullshit to shoot the man in front of his kids and you know it Matt, you're a father too.
I've been pulled over many times and I've never been asked to step out of the car. Actually, I got out once and was told to get back in.

To have a valid reason for using deadly force since his life was in danger.

As more info comes out, I doubt the cop did anything that I wouldn't have done. If he was trapped and couldn't let go, he could have been easily hurt or killed. They were saying on the radio that he even warned the guy that he was going to shoot if he didn't stop the vehicle. That guy made a choice and he paid for it.

I will say one thing...Plano cops are major dicks.

I have been pulled over probably 5 times or so in the last 3-4 years and never been asked to step out of the car and only received one ticket. That one ticket was be going 100 in a 60. I have been pulled over after a few drinks and alcohol in the front seat - never asked to get out. If you act like you do on this forum in front of an officer that pulls you over then there is your reason. Yeah, I got lucky, but the point being made is that if you act like you have some fucking sense you most likely won't have any issues.

Oh and I look mexican, have had loud/fast/red cars. So saying the vehicle you are driving is a driver to pull someone over is false.

It is simple. If you act like an idiot you will reap the results of acting like one.

I have been pulled over by plenty way before I was ever a cop smart guy. DPD, DPS, Duncanville, Irving, Grand prairie, Constables, Cedar Hill, and DSO. That's just what I can remember and some were more then once. Never ever was I asked to get out of my car. I took care of my shit and was always honest and polite. You should try it sometimes.

Rick Modena, dude you come off as a freakin idiot liberal candy ass punk that lives in his own twisted little world. Do you even know the first thing about Law Enforcement other than being pulled over for dumb shit. How many times have you been put in a life threatning situation with only seconds to decide if u or the other asshat gets to go home that night. Obviously that officer knew the kids and passenger were there and in the line of fire, but while being drug by a speeding car on the verge of being possibly killed. That officer placed his weapon in a very skilled and calculated location and fired his shots keeping all the passangers out of crossfire. That officer is one that i would work with and trust my life with everyday without a doubt in my mind of his compitence. Until you are in those shoes dont tell people what should have happened. Thanks and have a nice day.

That's about all I get out of this too. I won't bash an officer and defend a criminal for shit like this. I do think, however, something can be learned from this for future officers....and I hope the officer involved makes a speedy and full recovery.

I can only imagine how tough it is for his family right now. They almost lost a father/husband/son.... he has to learn how to cope with killing a person (albeit called for, it's still gotta fuck you up to know you've taken someone's life in front of their children) and to top it all off he's getting blamed for all this when it was the criminal that put everything in motion to begin with.

If that dumbass wasn't going to go to jail come hell or high water, why did he pull over? There's one question we'll never get answered, but still baffles me.

Well, I wasn't there so I have no clue what happened.

To answer your question though... he would have a LOT to gain by lying about his arm being stuck in that window. If the officers arm wasn't trapped, he could've let go ...or better yet, shouldn't have ever grabbed on to begin with...then he wouldn't have been in "danger".

It is way too easy to sit here and say what someone else would have done in this situation, especially after the fact. I have no clue how I would have or could have responded in the .03 seconds he was given to react.

I just never thought an officer who is flying solo would attempt to make an arrest on multiple warrants, with children on the scene, without first calling in for assistance.

I've been pulled over by DPS, Plano, and a dozen other branches in Ohio and NEVER been asked to step out of the car. I am not a cop, so I don't get a free pass.

Also, if departments had a "you can't shoot them in front of their kids" policy, how long do you think it would take before every career criminal in the state had a kid strapped to them 24-7? Having kids with you when you commit a crime does not make it ok or exempt you from the consequences of your actions.

Pot, meet kettle. You didn't even know the whole story, spouting off. I'm going off of information that YOU provided about yourself. I never said you didn't pay your tickets. There are things in life that aren't fair...but if he truly cared about his kids, he wouldn't live that kind of lifestyle, or endanger them in those situations, or teach them that the behavior he exhibited is ok. The fact that he got shot in front of his kids is squarely on him, not on the cop. I'm glad we agree on the perp, though.
