  • Any Mercedes contacts?

It's time to get the missus out of the POS Ford Transit. Bought it new and it's been the biggest turd I've ever bought from Ford. I can't see myself giving them another chance.

Minivans aren't an option. Too many kids and we're too accustomed to the extra space and headroom of the full size van with the mid roof.

I don't think Ram even makes a passenger van anymore, nor would I buy one. They're just too darned ugly.

Chevy isn't an option for me (no mid or high-roof variant without a conversion).

That pretty much leaves Mercedes. I'm hopeful that the Sprinter is a better vehicle than this Transit. I've had nothing but problems with the Transit from the day we bought it. It's a turd with seats in it.

Have you looked at the Armada? Just got my wife one and she loves it, lots of headroom. Nissan builds super reliable stuff also. 15 years for her in Nissans and I had the 08 Nissan I sold a couple of years ago that was flawless.

Even though I am a Ford guy, I just towed a 2021 30k squad back to the PD yesterday. Just died and won't start, might be a fueling issue. Transmission issues, wheel bearings, washer fluid reservoirs, driveshafts disconnecting. Having a fleet of Fords that run 12 hours a day I can honestly say I get a pretty good idea of what their reliability is. Lately, not so good.
    Whos your Daddy?

I have 5 kids plus 2 adults. Even an 8 passenger vehicle is cutting it too close. We frequently bring along a few friends on random trips and we're pretty much in 12-passenger territory on a regular basis.

FWIW - our previous vehicle before the Transit was an Expedition EL and it was just too small. Never thought I'd say that.

Bro you need an old Ford Econoline. Or an RV lol

Some of the Metris wouldn’t be enough then you’re teetering on RV pricing if you go big.

I had a 2008 Metris for our store for deliveries and it had two bench seats in the rear plus buckets up front. It was one of the smaller ones. Lots of power but it sounds like you need an RV imo.

The Transit is perfect for us, size-wise (and the Sprinter is virtually identical). The 2018 Transit we bought new has been the biggest POS I've ever owned and it's reached the point that I'm fairly constantly fixing something mechanical and I'm not willing to have my wife and children driving around in an unreliable vehicle.

I hear ya on that front, can't risk your family on a POS. I've been a FORD homer for 3 decades and I've had decent luck. Though my last two Stangs ('17 & '20) have a quirk(s), when you hit the memory button one of the mirrors will go to the edge of the outside and start popping, I have to hit the memory button again to get it to stop and reset. My Aviator has electronic quirks too, it will at times stay in daytime mode for the big screen and blind you at night, and you have to physically go in and hit night mode, which it is already in to go to night mode.
Neither cars have had any mechanical problems, but just annoyances.
If FORD doesn't get it shit together I may go MB or BMW for my next vehicles.

I have a 2011 2500 merc sprinter for a work vehicle. I love I boss man has spent close to 15k on repairs in the last two years though. Roughly 200k miles on it.

Nissan quit making those vans because sales were so bad. At least in the US. One of the dumbest ideas ever (truck front end, van back end). I liken it to the Pontiac Aztec. Sure you can, but why?

That's funny. I knew my wiles Armada shared Titan features but never even noticed that van. Everyone bitches about how they need to update their platform, but I will take reliability over a new model every 5 years. The Cargo is what I was looking at a minute ago. I like the Merc 4x4 Vans but they are up there in price.

The 2018 Transit was $55k. The 2024 Sprinter is $23k above that (both "fully loaded").
