We moved in August 2022 - this is my first time ever owning a home with a pool.

I like having the pool in the back yard for my 5 kids but I'll be damned if I've got the time to mess with it. House sat vacant for two years before we bought it. We ended up draining, acid washing and refilling the pool and now I gladly pay a local guy $170/month for weekly service.

I moved into a house with a pool in 2007. I've always had a service cause the last thing I want to do at the end of the day/weekend is clean the fucker.

      I just wanna splish splash.

Good luck, a good brushing on the walls and floor to knock off Alge and floaters with chloine (1-3inch tab per 1000 gallons of water) and some shock and PH- should get him back to clear water.

This is what I would do, drain and start over with fresh water.

That service you have is very affordable, the place that I was using wanted $60.00 a week, regardless is there is 4 weeks or 5 in a month. So it was $240.00 - $300.00, fuck that! One time he was here for 7 minutes on my camera and then after a call to his office, he was here for 20 mins. I take care of my own now, but wanted some feedback since the Texas heat started today...

We're on the east side of town, halfway between Rockwall and Greenville. If anyone wants his number, I'll gladly share.

And FYI for anyone else, the cost on our water bill to refill our pool (roughly 16,000 gallons) was $130 from the water department. We paid the same guy to drain it, do the acid wash, refill and then rebalance after it was full.

Yup, water is affordable, my pool is 24000gls, it was about $185.00 to fill. Thats why I mentioned just empty it and start over.

He needs to add Liquid Chlorine (or granular), those floater things for tablets are for maintaining.

He also needs to add Flocculant (Floc), I went and found the pOOlguy on Youtube, he makes a green pool (worse than his) clear in a 24 hours.
He added granular chlorine in a bucket with water and that Flocculant and scrubbed the pool to help agitate the water and when he came back the next day it was already mostly clear. He didn't run the pump during those 24 hours and he used a pool vaccum and skimmed the top for the floaties left by the Floc. It looks like it took him 48 hours and some elbow grease to get it back to safe swimming water.

It was a 30 minute video, I've seen some of his other videos for self maintenance, but I had to watch this 30 min, video as I can't take seeing your buddy out there in the water like that, he could get sick or worse get eatin by a gator, lol...

Scrubbing is not the problem there. He needs run it 24/7, clean the filter every other day, and just keep the chlorine in check. Should be a gauge somewhere that tells him when he needs to clean it. What type of filter is it? I hate cartridge filters. Liquid is good because it keeps the CYA down but even when mine is high I have had no issues. I think you can literally buy bleach.

My mom has a aluminum sand filter from the 70's, and that damn thing is still chugging a long. We have changed the sand out like 3 times in all that time. I have DE, and while the water is crisper, it is a little more maintenance.

I wouldn't do actual bleach. Discolor or remove film from the tile. Backwash and start to just empty the pool. Fast quick easy way to clear the water.
