  • Pool People?

Do you do your own maintenance or pay someone?

The company that built our pool, they ise their own people but I had to fire them clowns, because the guy they sent would be here for 20 minutes. He would do a half ass brush job on the walls, test the water and clean both skimmers and leave.
We started doing it ourselves, but that shit is work, lol. The Texas gates of hell are about to start and thinking it may be time to hire someone.

          Bunch of pussies!

Get the right robot, keep it chlorinated, done. I sweep mine occasionally, have to rebuild the filters, pumps, and robot every blue moon, but this shit isn't rocket science.

Get a test kit, chlorine tabs, and shock. Oh and a floater or two based on your pool size. Well, unless you have salt, that shit is even easier. Love my pool.

Costco or Amazon for chemicals. A chlorine plant blew up a few years back, that's why tabs are high.

          I second SVO for helpfulness.

I do have a nice robot and we sweep the walls and floor weekly. You're right though, I buy my chlorine tabs at Wallyworld and I take a water sample to Crown pool that checks my water weekly. I buy shock by the case and usually do a couple a bags a week, last week I did have to buy a 32oz bottle of phosphate decreaser, but so far its easy.

I'm guessing you have someone cutting your lawn!!!!! It's a good activity brushing the walls and skimming the pool. I rather hire someone to mow my yard. I would get a pool at our new home if we wanted to spend a large amount of money.

              Go brush that pool.

Yes, I have a little over an acre of land, so I found a crew that charges me $60.00 every two weeks. I got lucky with that deal, and I hooked him up with 6 of my fellow neighbors so he's happy. He can unload his equipment and spends an entire day here.
I just had to give him an extra $5.00 to use a push mower with a bag to do around the perimeter of the pool as to keep the clippings down.

It's good exercise to maintenance our own pool and it's done right. Just wanted to see if someone had a trustworthy source to do it during the next few months of hellish temperatures.

Sounds like the pool pump doesn't run enough or maybe doesn't work at all.

I have a robot on a timer but haven't' run it consistently for two years. My intellipro pump memory battery went dead right after I rebuilt it after snowpocolips. Works great but if the power goes out it loses time. It still runs once a day though, it is bizarre, been running going on 12 years. So 3 or 4 times a week if I think to flip it on, I run it. I only sweep my walls if I am not paying attention during the rainy season and my algea hits.

If your pool is always green, it either needs backwashed more, you have a bunch of crepe myrtles close by, or your water is way off. When I had my monster filter, prob twice the size of the current, I flushed the DE out twice a year. The one I have now, that SVO was questioning when I put in, has not been to bad, but requires about 4 dumps a year. Oversize everything when you put it in. Only a little more and way easier to maintain. I have a pond, fountain, and two aqauiriums. Fridays is water maint day at my house. Prob a couple of hours of work.

I'm no expert, but I did have to attend Pool School to learn the basics of how to run my Pool and keep it clean and Pool equipment knowledge. It sounds like he has a water balance problem, especially if his filter is clean and the pump is working. Chlorine, shock and PH levels need to be in check.

There are YT videos that show how to get a green pool back in shape DYI, just an FYI...

edit; On my Pool I have to add 2 pounds of shock weekly, several ounces of Muratic acid and chlorine tablets and lately some PH+ and I saw that there is PH -, too, as well as Alkanity (which is just backing Soda). And I'm sure by the Pool isle at Wallyworld, Lowes and the Pool store there can be lots more if your shit is bad.
