  • 2000 F150 4.6 coils loose. Is there an easier fix?

The previous owner broke off the hold down bolt on 4 of my coils on my 2000 4.6. I managed to avoid pulling the intake to extract the bolts and have been keeping the coils snug down with a rubber spacer for about 3 years with no problem until this week.

Is there any kind of repair kit for this aside from pulling the intake and extracting the bolts? I have a design in my head for a hard rubber or poly spacer that wedges between the fuel rail and coil, but wondered if there is something already out there like this? I haven't found anything yet.

I have the same problem on my wife's Transit with the 3.5 EB. You'd think they would learn to fix these recurring problems... her van is a 2018.

Not that I know of. I usually just jam the bastard under the fuel rail and call it a day.

hahaha, no shit they do. That may have been the single most important invention of the century.

And Frank, listen to me and you will be rich, you sound pretty mechanical orientated. Figure out a way to invent a fix and mass produce them through China or Mexico and you will make a killing...'H'
