  • Any HVAC people?

I'm framing a 12x24 room in the shop for our lasers and I am looking for the best, cost effective way to heat and cool the room.

3 walls will be insulated with 2x6 batts, one wall will get 2x4 batts, and the ceiling will get R38 batts. I'm using as many tricks as I can to acheive a sealed envelope.

I use a ductless mini split in my mancave, which is 20x24 with 10 foot ceilings. The heat pump performance is a little meh in the winter, keeps it around 68-72 *F, but you can supplement with a single space heater and it works fine. The A/C performance is outstanding, it will fucking freeze you to death. On top of that, it's efficient, only added like $20 a month to my electric bill.

This is the one I have.

Are your lasers going to have sharkbeams on their heads?

People are starting to slap these on RVs now and they kick the shit out of traditional rooftop systems.
        Whos your Daddy?

Can the lasers take off from a treadmill?

That's a pretty good idea actually. All in all, my man cave is about 600sqft with the bathroom, and even though I insulated the living shit out of it, it gets plenty cold in there. So yeah, I can see an RV doing way better with a mini split than a rooftop unit.

Why would I put sharkbeams on theblasers? The laser beams go on the sharks in the tank!

                  Thank you for the number.

What did they install? What sq. Ft. Space are you heating/cooling?

                    2-story townhouse built in 2002
                    1,600 sq ft.
The master bedroom has always had inadequate airflow.

Replaced 3 ton outside with same but scroll compressor. Very quiet now. The old unit was loud.

Replaced inside attic gas furnace with the same size but higher airflow. Reconfigured duct splits off the trunk. All rooms stay comfortable now.

I put a Mr Cool DIY setup in the shop last year. You're 100% capable of doing it all yourself, the system comes pre charged with freon.

Yep. Hardest thing was finding the damned adapter for my vacuum pump.

This is what I have been leaning towards. My only concern is it being overkill for the space. It will be less than 300 SF.
