Will he know about it? Life360 is free if you want something basic, but if he has the ability to disable it.

Just curious, is it a theft-worthy truck, or is this to keep tabs on him? If the latter I've heard numerous times, and as the parent of an 18yo I believe it to be true, parenting is pretty much done well before 16 when it comes to the big decisions, like drugs and sex. It's too late to prevent bad decisions at this point, now it becomes more about helping to direct the consequences.

I've used MasTrack on one of our vehicles for several years now... works OK, but there are likely better alternatives out there now.

Cost is about $20.00 per month.

This is the company I used when I had my car lot. They wire in to any 12V source, can track them real time, set geo fences, and they don't have a yearly fee. IIRC, you have to update the license every 2 years.

went with optimus tracker. 12 bucks a month but worth it . obd plug in . real time tracking and geofence . gives me peace of mind and keeps him honest . kiddo is fine with it . he's a smart kid and knows this will keep him from loosing his keys for a week . he said he would rather be tracked than go back on the bus . hell my tracker was everybody in town knowing who we were .
