Sounds awesome! I'm hoping to do the same (move to the family farm), but currently the plan is to wait until retirement.

I thought you were still on the family farm. I remember that's what urged you to leave Greenville. Where is it? I'm wanting to think Kansas

This seems to be the month for putting in your notice. We've had 2 put their 2 weeks in already, expecting a 3rd within the next week.

Good luck, man. Sounds like a dream. And lots of hard work, but working on your own place is just different than working for somebody else.

That sounds awesome, I just don't know if I could move that far from "civilization" right now. You'll be ready for the impending collapse of society as we know it though.. That is awesome.

Oh, and this! In the event of impending collapse, mind if I bunker down there? I'll make the drive and bring guns, ammo, and survival goods!

My brother in law wants to buy a bunch of land for that.. We plan to move in with him when it goes down. Added hands for security and sharing the workload on the farm.

I'm in. I wish I had the money, there is 1500 acres for sale right outside of town here in Greenville.

I forgot to mention besides the house being gave to us.

The first three years our insurance will be as well. The first year all bills will be paid by my father/farm until we get stable.

As far as retirement goes our plan at the current is to work the farm until we decide to retire. If we still have no kids im selling it all and doing what we want. If not we still put away towards retirement as much as we can.

You never know the old man could give it to someone else, or something else could happen. You just never can count on things like that.

As far as relatives go i have a uncle in San Diego with a house a block or two away from the bay. He also has no kids. When he gets older we will prob move him out our way as well if he wishes. He is well off and was very successful in his career. I flew out there this past summer and drove his 57A porsche 356 up the coast to Just near portland for a Porsche camp out. We Keep our eyes open for a driver 356 for me as well.

                    Other than that its me.

Basically its being gave to us on a silver platter.

                      Good luck!

On a side note, one of my lenders at work has a 28,000 acre ranch in eastern California that his bank repossessed. They want $10 million for it. Now that would be a place where a man could get some thinking done!

LOL! That would be a blast to go through the process of getting a job just to throw in notice after a few weeks.

                            Where is the land at?

                              Nw Kasas.

                              Middle of nowhere.

Its just like where we live now except more tree's and pasture. The best part 10-20 degrees warmer.

If you need someone to help harvest mule deer, let me know. There is a good possibility I'll be about 4 hrs west of you.
