Not necessarily. For example, my wife's 2008 MDX will not have ANY service history after 2013 when we bought it.

Why?

I did it myself, cheaper and more competently than any shop out there. I've done CV axles, transmission fluid change, transfer case fluid change, rear diff fluid change, alternator...etc.

If it's a gear head and he wants to do his own work to make sure it's done right, it may be a good thing.

Agreed, my 2014 has 2 (maybe) oil changes at the dealer... I do it myself and use full synthetic for less than a regular change anywhere else.

Not at all, majority of cars I buy never have any maintenance history.

I started doing my own oil changes this last year and I’ve saved a bunch of money.. cheap harbor freight ramps make it to where it only takes about 15-20 min in the driveway..
