Looking to have a steel building built in the Texas Panhandle. Having a bit of an issue getting some, what I thought were normal/simple questions answered from the local contractors.
I need a building that I can have about an 70x120 dirt floor. So I was pricing a 100x120 clear span building. I was curious if I could have an 80x120, with a 40 x120 lean to off the side built for less money? I was told by someone that claims he used to be in the business that an 80 foot clear span is way way cheaper than the 100 foot clear span because the extra engineering and truss size when you get above 80 foot spans. So the more I thought it over the idea of a 80x120x16 building with a 40x120 lean to off the side sounds like it might be the way to go. That will allow me to heat and cool the 40x120 lean to without trying to heat cool the largest part of building with the high ceiling. Anyway, anyone in the business?
