Wife got rear ended yesterday

Been a little over 10 days since I filed the claim. Finally got the ins. adj, on the phone and she was less than helpful. They haven't been able to get their insured on the phone to confirm liability. Kept repeating over and over that if I didn't want to wait on USAA that I could file with my own insurance.
Called and talked to the guy that hit the wife and he was apologetic and claimed he had been abnormally busy with work, but that he would call the ins co immediately and settle things.

Here's the latest. We have to take the car to one of USAA's certified repair shops for an estimate. After which, we can have a check cut to us, or a repair shop of our choosing.
Then...if the repair ends up more than the estimate the shop can file an adjustment for the additional work.
Then, we can file for diminished value once it's completely repaired.
This sound right to you guys?
I can say this, so far customer service at USAA sucks. The gal that I'm dealing with is less than helpful and he canned response to most anything is that I could file through my ins. if I don't like USAA's answer. I will be filing some sort of complaint with the state once this is said and done.G'Day Mate
