Frost Bank. Texas owned and operated. Even their investment portfolios are Texas preferred. Great bank, great folks, never did home mortages and never took anything from the gubment. They refused all bailout funds.

They recently just changed their checking account formats which makes me what to change my checking account format.

                1. technically my account isn't free anymore. it only is because i meet the minimum qualifications of cash by direct deposit but that's besides the point.

                2. personal checks aren't free. while i only use about 5 checks in a calendar year, i'm not going to pay to print checks. that's gay.

                3. cashier's checks, bank checks, and money orders are no longer free. super gay.

                4. ATM fees incurred. this has always been the case but i'd like free here too.

so really the only thing i like about chase anymore is the mobile app with the ability to deposit checks.

                so, what bank?
I don't see enough disadvantages for you to go through the hassle of leaving. I have Chase and wasn't overly excited about some of the changes, but meet the criteria for my junk to remain free, as do you.

I may write 12 checks a year. We just ordered enough checks to last us longer than I care to do the math on for less than $15. I see no issue.

If I ever have to get a cashier's check or money order (i.e. never), I don't mind paying a little for the service.

I might use my ATM card 3-4 times a year so I don't even know about these fees you speak of. I use it so rarely that I could stop all together and not miss anything. Since you've been paying for them all along, what's the difference?

                  damn that sucks...

my accounts are over $25k, but the wife's aren't... now, do I add her to save $30/mo, or do I keep us separate as I always have?

You might be grandfathered under the old terms. That's the way our clients are, except old Wamu accounts.

Wamu gave away the farm with free everything to keep from going bankrupt, and then did it anyway.

I probably won't. Looks like sc281 is right. All banks seem to have similar criteria.

The only advantage I would like to gain is free ATM. I'll probably just open a supplemental account with state farm bank and have some cash rerouted.

I switched to Chase a couple months ago and couldn't be happier with them. Jamie Dimon is a god.

I've got Compass (BBVA) and have yet to get a fee for anything (trust me, I'm watching). We also get reimbursed for every ATM transaction fee and have no minimum. We have everything set-up in a con venient online bill pay set-up.

Chase has the best iphone app, though.

In the end, fuck 'em all.
