Well, since you won't simply answer the question, here's my point:
I understand extreme speeds, say, 15-20mph over. I don't like it anymore than you do. However, I was trying to get you to define a minimum of what's acceptable for the fast lane. Do we define, as a society, that if you are going 1 mph over and passing cars, you're good? Or is it 5-7mph and you're good? Does it matter how long of a line you are holding up behind you?
It seems a lot more simple to me to simply abide by the unspoken rule that, if there are cars behind you, move over and let them pass. Now, if some assfuck is going to come flying up behind me at 20+ over, I'm not going to race to get out of the way so he can maintain his 20+ over...but I'm also not going to play cop and squat on someone who's going 8+ over to my 5+ over. I'd hope to get the same in return.
I'll simply move over, let him pass, then get back in the fast lane at my 5+ over.
As I said before, there's a law in Oregon on some of the mountain roads that says to pull over if 3+ cars are stacked behind you. Seems pretty common sense, let alone courteous, to me.
