      Where's the fun in that?

I'd like to know this also. Need to run some speaker wire across the living room (through the attic and walls)

i am! i am calling all of our members to tell me how to do this!

i believe i have some wires for my dish running through the same route, i dont guess it would be that hard, i jsut dont know if 4 more wires will fit through that routing.

        god bless.

I picked up some glow sticks(think that's their name) from HD. I made a hole where the wires should go thru and got me one of those small led flashlights(or any flashlight) and stuck it in the hole. Makes it easier when you're in the attic to guide the sticks(wire) to the hole. That's how I did it. I can let you borrow the sticks.

depending on your walls, it could be easy or super hard

Some walls have a 2x4 that runs parallel to the ground for fire code. If this is there, then you have to open up the sheetrock and drill a hole in it.

Or you can try to find an existing run of wires, electrical, phone, etc, and use the same conduit.

Paul, I have a cable snake and bag (not a snake and a sack), i'll help ya my white trash brotha

Or you could tie a line to a cable in the wall, pull it back up with the cable alread there, then pull all the wires back together

Find the nearest stud to where you want the box.

Cut out where your box is going.

Measure your distance from a wall to the box.

Use an auger bit to drill through the top plate in the attic directly above where you intend on putting a box.

                  Push your romex down.

Slide it in the box as you put it through the hole.

Fasten the box to the stud.

It's as easy as this explains, unless you are doing it in mid summer!

Done this many times. Also, wear a long sleeved shirt. The attic insulation will eat you alive if you only have a T shirt or short sleeve on!

Almost certainly new enough to have that 'firewall'.

Most interior walls will not have a fireblock in them (a horizontal stud). And most exterior walls are very narrow and heavily stuffed with insulation - a complete PITA to drop.

So... if it's an interior wall, this is easy. If it's an exterior wall, I would suggest calling a contractor. It may literally be easier to cut sheetrock, drop wires, and rebuild the sheetrock.
