Where to buy loose gemstones?

Are there any reputable local or online places to shop? A quick Google search seems to pop up a bunch of places overseas that may or may not be on the up and up.

And not diamonds, I'm looking for aquamarine, cut and ready to set.

I cannot remember the site that she referred me to for the purchase of the stone for my wife's ring, it may be in there. She knows her stuff.
