  • What would you do with this eBay deal

Bought a DERALE pan for $50 on eBay, sent the payment a few minutes after auction end as I usually do. Get an email the next day saying that he left a letter off his email and gave me the right email. Of course this meant that I'd have to cancel that payment, wait for it to clear, and that $50 would end up in my PayPal account where I'd have to pay the 3.5% to get it out, but whatever, we all make mistakes. I immediately cancel that payment and send a payment to the right email. 2 days go by, and I am under the assumption he is sending the part out, when I get an email from PayPal saying that my payment was refunded. No note, just a refund for the $50. I write him and ask why he refunded and if the item was shipped. 2 days later I still hear nothing so I write again, this time he writes me back with:

Im sorry I refunded your money, Im selling tools and parts for a friend that her husband passed awy recently, she is very hard to get a hold of and i dont have access to the items. I didnt want anyone to have to wait or get screwed. She has no clue how ebay work. Again I am sorry, If anything changes I will contact you first.
At this point I now have $100 tied up in my PayPal account and no trans pan. I will have to either wait till I spend another $100 in PayPal or take the 3.5%. I write him back explaining this and he wrote back:

I was just trying to help a friend, im sorry
At this point I felt that I should leave negative feedback (which is incredibly rare for me, might be the 2nd time in 100's of purchases. My logic is that while his story is unfortunate, he should not have sold an item that was not in his possesion, and he should not have just sent the refund without and indication as to why he was refunding, and the right thing for him to do would be at least make me whole (I know its only $3.50 or whatever, but it is also time and the fact that I have to go find another pan, if he offered to send $3 it would have at least shown me he understood the situation he put me in).

So I left bad feed back, just said "BAD DEAL, IM OUT TIME AND MONEY BECAUSE HE SELLS PARTS FOR "FRIENDS"

    Then he writes back with:
That wasnt nessesary, I weas just trying to be honest and now have you wait. If you wnat it I can get it but you will have to give me a day or so to meet with my friend. I would really appreciate if you could retract that negitive feedback......
Now, part of me doesn't want to pull it on principle, I definitely will not send him another dime so getting the part is not important now.

Would you pull the negative feedback?

I wouldn't. He needs to get his shit together.

Man, you have no idea how many sob stories are being spread around ebay. I would've left a neutral since you did get your money back.

            I would not.
I think his point is that the fish got low balled, fucked in the catfish asshole and you paid half price. The worst part was the fish explaining to his fish friends why his asshole smelled like redneck

He shouldn't be selling stuff that he doesn't have in his possession. Leave the feedback.

From the quotes it looks like you deserve it for dealing with MrEDD.

                            Just a joke.

You did everything in your power to make the transaction happen and he failed to hold up his part of the deal. That equals negative feedback. "I'm sorry" didn't work for BP and it shouldn't work for him.
