Boss 429 in a movie?

I'm trying to remember a movie I saw years ago. It seemed like a mad max style movie. The hero character finds an old man storing what I remember to be a Boss 429 mustang. He fixes it and drives it out into the world to continue his "fight".
Anybody remember anything like this?

The only thing that rings a bell based on your description is the 80s movie Cherry 2000. Its post apocalyptic and they drive a Mustang at some point. Its a '66 or something, not a Boss 429 though.

Wasn't there one in that war of the worlds remake? Scifi movie. The guy wasn't an old man though. Car was black iirc

Theres another movie that comes to mind but I dont recall the name. I just remember the main character needs a vehicle and him and his sidekick come across a few potential vehicles. He has his pick between a mustang and a Shelby cobra. He rejects the cobra because he deems it too fragile. So they drag mustang out and do a quick fix up montage to get it running and off they go.
