Are these guys quacks? Friend of mine said he wants to go to school to be one. I thought a chiro was more of a certificate. You guys know any Chiropractors? Every time I think of a chiro, I think of accident and injury clinic or some other bootleg clinic

There either quacks or crooks. You can also make a ton of money if you work the auto injury sector. Especially if you get in good with "ambulance chasers" (lawyers) and body shops. My wife use to work with one and it's unbelievable how shady these guys are.

I'm sure you can make an honest living doing it the ethical way but I'm sure most get greedy once they see the potential.

Depends on personal experience I guess. The one's that grad. in the low tere still get a cert. I know mine isn't a quack or a crook.
I go to a sports & spine chiro. and after my shoulder surgery I was healing but in pain and healing wrong (tendon & ligaments). My ortho just gave me more shots (horrible in every aspect) and the rehab just did the goofy motions, which do help at 1st, and did the heat and ice packs.
When I finally went to my chiro, he actually had to do a bunch of stretching and needing shoulder tendons and ligaments. They had a ton scar tissue and healed like dry speghetti, all tangled and twisted.
It hurt super bad but after the 1st time going through that it felt 100x better, 2nd time it was pretty much at 90% or better.

Also rode the wooden rollercoater a few years ago and woke up and only could take about a 60% inhale, rib was out. Chiro put it back, just last week 3 ribs were out, although they still hurt he put them back and I can function. I possibly screwed them up again, cause I really don't take it easy when I should.

I'm all for chiro's and sport's dr.'s which thankfully mine is as well, over regular dr.'s that usually recommend shots or surgery. My 2 pennies.

ok, so I guess I shouldn't catagorize all chiro's in those two groups. I've been to one several years ago for a trampoline injury when I was a kid. Aside from her suggesting 3 visits/week, the treatments really helped. I still have to be careful since it was a decade later before finally taking myself to the chiro but she did releive the pain. I only went like once a week though.

Just like almost every profession you're going to find good and bad examples. Most medical doctors will shit all over chiropractors and a most chiropractors will shit all over an MD. Kind of like how lawyers are looked at. They're all full of shit until you actually need one, then they're your best friend. As far as chiropractors being witch doctors, I personally think it all depends on a case by case basis. You probably shouldn't being going to a chiropractor to get adjusted of you have a tumor growing on your spine, but I don't think you should run to the hospital and schedule surgery if your neck/back is sore one morning. Your buddy should do a lot of research and see if he really wants to jump into the field before he actually does anything. I wouldn't just go talk to the schools either, but read as much about it and talk to as many folks as possible.

When you have a disc in your neck 1" out of alignment, you dont have many opitions to fix your neck. I was in a car wreck around 11 and went to a chiro for two years for adjustments to get it back in line. If you have a spine alignment issue they are great, but it all depends on who you go to.

I have never been to a chiro but having joints out of whack is very real. I have lifted weights for years and if you do it long enough things get under tension and sometimes out of place. Your joints will hurt like crazy if they get stuck that way. Popping them back into place through whatever means (usually lifting) provides immediate relief for me but sometimes they will hurt for weeks at a time before returning to proper position.

Stongnuffs wife is one and I use her practice once a month. I feel much better when I leave, but within a few days it's pretty much back to normal. A lot of it is how I sleep, and the severity of the injury I sustained. I would NOT go to one of those ambulance chasers you see on TV.

LOL! I'll ask next time. I don't know how it goes "out" or what takes place when it does, but I know how it feels.

I've known people who were actually helped by them, but my personal experience with one was he didn't know shit about what was wrong with me. After going weekly for a month or more because of a "pinched nerve" in my hip, I went and saw a real DR and he had me in surgery within 2 days because as it turned out I had a real problem. The chiropractor took an xray, but failed to see that the true issue was. I don't think I would ever go back to one.

"A rib going out" in chiropractor translates to, "I'm going to make up some bullshit so you develop mild hypochondria and keep feeding me money".

Real chiropractors are worth their weight in gold. But just like with any profession, there are good and bad, and the bad give the good a bad image. The one I go to (maybe once or twice a year) is a chiropractor, but practices a method called ART active release therapy or some shit. He concentrates more on the muscles and tendons. He will do adjustments, etc, if necessary though. He works with a lot of professional athletes. That shit hurts like a mother fucker, but feels great the next day.

LOL! If you say so! So I rode the Texas Titan or whatever that junkie wooden rollercoaster was and the next day I had a hard time breathing and couldn't take in a full breathe. That was like in 07' so his made up crap that was put into my head to cause me to develop mild hypochondria all of a sudden just triggered in my head and sent a signal to my ribs 4 years later...makes sense to me.

Pretty much sums up what the chiropractor that I go to does.
