Has anyone had this done before? How long were you really off your feet for?

Inguinal hernia repair - recovery time?

Had it done on an outpatient basis in 2014. Recovery was pretty quick, I started walking as much as possible every day while I was off. I took a month off work only because I had a lot of leave time accumulated, but two weeks would have been plenty of time for recovery in my opinion. Also I didn't lift anything heavier than 10-12 pounds for a month afterward.

Had bi lateral in 2012. They went to work on one side and noticed the other side also. Of course the batbelt made me need more recovery time but at least two months recovery on mine. I tool FMLA and was off three months. Honestly it took me that long before I was comfortable in my gear. I think what got me the most was they had to stitch into a muscle on one side for a bit. I was quoted two weeks originally. I mean, depending on the job you do it could happen.
Getting out of bed and standing up after a long rest will suck. Three guys at my PD had them and I was like why the hell did we not buy a lift assist to get out of bed. I had to roll over and slide off. Best to get moving though quickly and not do a lot of laying around. I was joking with my doctor about lifting at the gym two weeks after. He said whatever you think you can do buddy, but you're not going to be able to damage what I repaired.Whos your Daddy?

I was off for 6 weeks. I also have a fairly physically demanding job. It probably took at least 3 months before I was 100%. If you’re a desk jockey you’d be fine in probably 2 weeks. I was up and walking probably 2 days after surgery. You need to be up and about.
