went to look at a car and the title is brown. guy states it's because he lost the original and they gave him a brown until the blue title was mailed to him. this true? It does not say salvage or rebuilt on it.

A few years ago either my title was lost in the mail or the lender couldn’t did it. They sent a lien release and I got a certified copy of the title that was brown. I didn’t have any issues selling that truck. The brown title is the same as the original blue title.
If he has the brown title you should feel pretty comfortable that there isn’t a lien.
