Aren't there any local butchers in those parts? I usually get a side of beef which is cut and packaged for $800 and lasts us close to a year. In looking at shipping meat with that matadore place from what I've seen it looks as though you're paying restaurant prices.

Not sure what cuts they were, but they bought them from the local yocal on the square. We just cooked them on the grill. I’m sure we prob screwed them up, may have to give it another try from an actual steak house.

That's where i get Wagyu the few times a year I cook it. I've never noticed an odd texture but they are specifically sold for their very high marbling.

I wonder if it was just a hanger steak or some other cut that's different than your typical ribeye...strip...etc

The ground Wagyu texture certainly is different however.

They didn’t look like a typical steak, almost like a loin shape. It almost had the texture of a grainy stew meat, hard to explain. Hell there’s no telling what they gave us haha

Certainly sounds like a hangar steak.

I wasn't in the market for a bunch of steaks that day, the truck just happened to be sitting there with the sign on it. When I get ready for a good steak I usually just go buy a couple of nice fresh ones and cook 'em up that day.

Go to sams club an get a cowboy ribeye. Last one was 2.7 lbs, worth the $18 I paid for it hands down

No different than buying it off a truck that goes door to door. Just say no. I'll agree that a shitty steak has its place. I just don't go that shitty.

Local Yocal has the best Wagyu I've found in DFW in their Reserve line. The owner is a good dude too. Deep Cuts Dallas has a solid offering as well, but it doesn't compare to Local Yocal. I stopped in at the Super H in Carrollton the other day and was surprised to see that they carry Snake River Farms beef for those that live in that area.

I almost pulled over to check it out but didn't.

                                Safe, risky, or stupid?

I was picturing some legit local raised Angus Beef but who knows where they might have really come from.

After all, I've bought roadside shrimp before and lived...

You buy speakers out of a white van? j/k.

Most of that stuff is really low quality. I do not think it is worth what they ask for it.
