I am not dismissing Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, the Armenian Genocide in WW1, Rwanda, half of Africa, or the shit ISIS was doing. However mentioning the Jewish Holocaust is nothing to get pissed off about. So it is the most well known, why would that piss you off? It brings attention to genocides in general which are often ignored even today. It wasn't you; it is me. I grew up listening to how horrible the Holocaust was but when I learned that only half of the people killed in it were Jews and inquired about that with family members they had no idea what I was talking about and said it did not matter. Only the death of the Jews counts it appears and I got sick of hearing about it because it diminishes the suffering of others. Since I also have German family members I am aware of how offensive the behavior of the European Jews between the 2 wars was and how they brought a portion of the suffering onto themselves because of it. Entire nations do not line up to commit mass murder of people whom they like. Oddly enough Jews themselves invented genocide ; just read the old testament for the details.
Strangely enough you never hear about the 1.2 million German civilians murdered in the first 7-8 weeks after the end of the war. Interesting on the German expulsion and an estimated 500,000 to 1 million killed (records from the communist countries are apparently spotty). Hadn't heard of it before but just googled it. While it is unfortunate people tend to focus more on the jewish holocaust than others, especially more recent ones since the world said "never again", it still brings needed attention to the problem. Alot of people aren't aware of recent ones so just use WW2 as a jumping off point to education. You are right that it won't end, at least not in our lifetimes; too much hatred for stupid reasons like religion or skin color which have existed for thousands of years and that can't be fixed overnight.

^^^^^ After communism started falling apart I was still involved with the Mormon church and went on multiple trips with multiple groups to dig through all of the archives in the former communist countries to transfer all of their records onto microfiche and microfilm. Most of my time was spent in Poland and even though I could not speak the language I could understand the context of many of the records and saw the numbers.
The Nazis were detail freaks about genealogy and their records were preserved by the Russians once they took over which is why the LDS church was interested in the records.
My quip about the Jews inventing genocide is more hyperbole then fact but the old testament is the oldest written record that details genocide. The thing that cracks me up about the Holocaust is the groups that run around claiming that it did not happen. Given the type of people who like to say that I like to ask them why they would try to talk down the Nazis greatest accomplishment. They freak out over this even more than the Negros in America freak out over slavery. My money says that they will find it in their hearts to let the Poles soothe their butt hurtedness with a little cash justice from them. Once the last person who even met a death camp survivor or had a family member that they personally knew die in the camps passes away it will become a little bit more tolerable. Until then I am sick of hearing about it.
Do Germans have Jew guilt the way Americas have black guilt? The answer is a resounding "HELL FUCKING YES" and it is even worse than the white guilt we are fed.
