Is anyone else suffering like the have been damned to the depths of hell?

I've been suffering for the better part of a month with this shit. My usual 24hr Claritin D wasn't getting me through the day, so I switched to 12 hr. It got me through the night for the first night or so. Now, I'm up 3-4 times a night blowing my nose, congested, and unable to sleep.

I was having similar problems with Allegra becoming less effective over time. My ENT prescribed me Xyzal. It does seem to work better, but you need to take it at the bedtime for the first week or so until you acclimate to it. It can cause drowsiness. In a pinch, I'll take a snort of Afrin for severe nasal congestion and it always works. You just have to pace yourself, because if you use it too often and then stop it has a rebound effect.

I've been doing sublingual immunotherapy drops for over a year and I've seen a drastic difference. I still get allergies from time to time but not nearly as bad as before. I rather do the therapy to correct the problem rather than bandaid the symptoms with a constant flow of allergy meds.

That being said last weekend kicked my ass with allergies. First time in months that I felt so terrible. Had to take a few benadryl and chlortimatrol and go to bed.

For congestion, pick up 4Way nasal spray, or the generic walmart and cvs brands. I have allergies and that is the only thing that allows me any sleep when they flare up.

I was eating breakfast this morning at Whataburger, I heard this guy say "I don't think I'm allergic to it, it just makes me itch a lot."

I think those drops were in the last allergy thread. Detail?

Man, the last couple of weeks have been rough. We are working crazy hours because we have so many houses going. Most nights I'm having trouble sleeping due to the congestion.

Yeah I think I started a thread about this a while ago when I first started the treatment.

The idea is that you build an immunity to your allergens and eventually dont need allergy pills.

How it works? Go to the allergist (Texan Allergy in my case) and they test you by pricking you with about 70 different allergens and then messure your skins reaction. They then formulate a treatment specifically for your allergens. They provide a bottle of the treatment that has a squirter on the top that squirts out one drop at a time. You squirt 3 drops under your tongue every day. Every 3 months they mail you a stronger dose of the treatment. Eventually your body builds an immunity.

                  Is it fool proof? No.

Does it work? So far, for me, yes!

This is way better than being doped up on garbage medicine all the time.

My doctor just told me to go get some Xyzal. Over the counter and man I slept like a baby last night.

I use it whenever the congestion and drainage isn't so bad that it just runs out of my nose (the flonase)
