To stream Direct TV Now you need a Roku, Amazon firestick, Apple TV or I think you can do it from your phone.... Smart TV might already have a app for it.

I use Hulu Live, I already had a hulu subscription, so for 25-30 more bucks a month I got a bunch of local, sports and news channels I needed.

4mpbs might support some streaming assuming there isn't anything else using up your bandwidth. It's borderline though under ideal conditions. Also make sure your ISP doesn't limit your data. An HD stream will easily burn up a gig of data per hour. AT&T has data caps on most of their services and so do many other providers.

We just switched to sling a month ago via roku and fucking love it. Cheaper and I am not paying for 300 channels I don't watch.

Do I need a higher performance router? My download speed (out here in BFE) is only about 4mbps but I can step up to the next level package for about 25.00 month more...

Thanks for all the input so far.

A Roku or Apple TV will work. If you have a TV with built in Roku, that will work as well.

4mbps is right in between the 2.5-7 mpbs recommended speed by Directv Now.

If you're going to buy a streaming device, I recommend one that has an ethernet port and hardwire it to your router for a consistent connection.

You could also use your laptop and connect it to your TV.

We are using sling, netflix, hulu, and amazon prime through 3 firesticks and really like it. Kind of sucks to not have a DVR function, but it keeps us from watching too much TV. Way cheaper, and you can put a TV anywhere you can get a WiFi signal. No regrets at all.

You haven't been to the depths of hell until you have been subjected to hours and hours of Paw Patrol.

Alright, I have had direct tv now for about 8 months and I am fucking done with it. Terrible quality and service. For the last few weeks it has been freezing and buffering like crazy. I am on the promo "go big" plan for $35 a month and I don't care if it was $15 a month... it sucks. The final straw was tonight when I went to watch football and it gave me a message that I can't watch it on a phone.... uh, i'm watching it on a firestick. I tried it on a computer, apple tv, and android box and got the same message. fuck that.

I tried sling before and it was decent but I was missing a few channels. I am on a free trial for Fubo right now and the quality is WAY better than direct tv but the interface sucks.

For those of you that have sling.. do you have any buffering issues? How is the quality?

Vue users.. how is the interface compared to Sling?

Had the same issues yesterday as well, but the NBC Sports app was streaming it live so I lucked out. I was annoyed as well, but there's no way I'm getting rid of the $35 go big early adopter package that no one else can match. Especially after they added CBS, yesterday.

If you are really going to get rid of the service, sell your account and get $100. There's people on the DTVN reddit page that'll buy it off of you.

Directtv now has terrible reviews. Sling and playstation vue seem to have much better service and both have free week trials, or at least they did.

DTVN has been out for less than a year. Were you around the first year of Sling? I was and it was garbage. DTVN blows it completely out of the water in the same time span.

Vue has gone up in price and also removed channels.
