  • Do you agree with this kind of management

There is about 10-12 of us that work in this office and interact together .

We don't really have a "manager" ..Just the owner

He decided to take us in the office, one by one and ,

Tell me what you like about this person, tell me what you don't like .

Then, built a spread sheet and took us all together in one meeting and revealed the results to everyone at one time .

Think this a good way to team build ?

Sounds like a business owner that doesn't know how to manage people, and not somewhere I would want to stay for very long... Pretty common actually.

At least he included a summary of the "likes" along with the "don't likes".

          Hah, what a nightmare.

There are tactful ways to accomplish that so everyone can better work together and understand each other's differences. Especially the differences that piss people off.

          Example:

With how sensitive society is today this almost sounds unethical.

LOL that's shitty. Don't read too much into it, some people are just really, really bad at managing people.

Sounds like an opportunity to propose a manager position, maybe?

He doesn't really want a manager I guess , he refuses to fix the things that need to be addressed ..

Like the one guy that does nothing and falls asleep at his desk daily, yes I'm serious

Sent you a PM. George makes a good point - you could sell yourself into a new position that keeps his retarded shenanigans away from the people, and makes you look awesome.

How much cheese are they paying? All relocate up there in the summer to sleep at a desk. The only person better than me at looking busy without doing anything is Mr.Costanza.

Not sure what he makes , he has been here long time and the owner seems awful loyal to him for what ever reason .

Upper 70's would be my guess

                          Its laughable

The outcome of doing something like that sounds sub optimal.

Most managers I have run across should not be in management positions. They got their by performance, knowing someone, or just being at the right place at the right time. Then you meet someone who is a true leader and you are amazed. We have degrees for engineering, business, etc. but no one for leadership. Well besides the military. Everything else is on the job training.
