I wonder why they didn't raise the horsepower? But you can only get the 800 tq engine in automatic only. The 6spd manual is still 350 hp and 650tq.

Torque is moment of force. Horsepower is power, or work per unit time. Talking about both in the same regard is not correct.

Peak torque improved to 800ft-lbs. HP also increased in the middle range, but peak HP stayed the same.

    Physics FTW!

This. An increase in mid-range power would make an increase in peak torque all the better.

I know that I'm just surprised they didn't raise the hp just to help out sells. The regular joe blow don't care if they raise the mid range hp and all, they care what the overall hp and tq reading is. Which I think is fucking stupid. Should be a pretty good matchup now between the big three when they do all the testing again.

That's nuts. My work truck has a 265 HP 800 Tq ISC. I wonder how far they'll go in light duty trucks?

The only one not rated at 800 is GM. But it wouldn't surprise me if 900 tq is in the near future.

Obviously, they made a change that only effected mid range and it did not increase air flow at the top. They must have a restrictioin in the air flow path that is choking the engine. Peak numbers are great but how long are people driving around at RPM for max HP?

Man I agree with you why they did what they did. I think it's smart so they will be able to compete with Ford and GM. But I think by not upping the hp rating that will hurt them with sells. People looks at the max numbers and not what rpm's they will be driving in mostly.

they didn't up HP probably due to the limitations of the emissions system... didn't want to do countless hours of R&D to up the power within the current parameters and emissions regs...

Ford and GM are using urea now, so it's a lot easier to make power and stay within emissions regs.

People look at big numbers like you said, so they bumped the TQ up

Looks like dodge up the GCWR up to 30k pounds. I think that is an increase of 6k pounds. And 22,700 max towing.

yeah, read the article again. They mention Ram being a division of chrysler and mention some guy as CEO of Ram. Ram is now a division not just a brand. crazy

If it weren't for the Ram truck, chrysler would go under.
