There is one thing that I read that a cop wrote that is something I always keep in mind because damn, this society of fools we must contend with. Cop said to be careful about your dash cam footage....and this is why I like the GPS screen....hides the fact it's a camera a little bit... the footage can be used against you. Never say you have it until you have reviewed it yourself first.
The example was this:
Driver A has a camera and is approaching an intersection when the light turns yellow. Naturally, Driver A accelerates, entering the intersection during the yellow light (records on dashcam as such.) Meanwhile, Driver B totally blows the red light that is still illuminated to the cross traffic, t- boning Driver A. Seems clear cut, Driver B ran a red light and hit Driver A who was still within his window of yellow. Driver A produces cam footage proving his case, but the footage also shows he was speeding (he had accelerated to make yellow) and now, Driver A is found to be partly liable. The sorry ass judge's reasoning: Driver A would not have been in the intersection at that location in space and time, had he not been speeding, which is as illegal as running a red light.
Moral of the story....Dash cams that look like GPS are the shit.

Even if somebody died, unless you are doing something crazy like 90 in a 30 I don't see a judge looking at anything. If I wrote that accident up, and I saw you speed up to make the yellow, I could care less. A reasonable and prudent person would agree people speed up to make yellows. It would be 100 percent dickwads fault that ran the red light. You have the yellow and the right of way.
Now, could thier insurance company try some fuckery with your insurance company? Maybe, they do some strange things sometimes. Thats thier issue though and not yours, unless they want to drop you. It would not even go on the crash report that you sped up. Like I said, don't confuse this with you doing somethign crazy speed wise. An accident involving death, they would try to figure out your speed but be resonable.
Almost as good as the argument that, well if the guy driving with no DL was still at home I wouldn't have hit him. You still pay because you were at fault.Whos your Daddy?

Dammit, I have been procrastinating for years about getting a camera. Reading some of the stories here made me buy one. Actually I bought two, for both cars. I bought two Napoer 1080's. 30 bucks and they have a lot of nice features. I will try these out and upgrade in a year or so.
Question to you guys that use them, do you find yourself becoming a better, more courteous driver because of being recorded?

I don't need GPS to drive around the DFW (why folks want that shit in their windshield is beyond me) so my little cam is tucked behind my rear view. People still notice it, and I'm glad they do. Straightens them the fuck out sometimes and the panhandlers avoid me.
I have a youtube channel with a few vids if anyone is curious as to the quality lemme know. The one I use sells for like $40 now and it's well worth it.

I admit I did not buy the NuviCam for the GPS, but i have grown to love it. I like the GPS because it has live traffic for life with no subscription or extra cost. It also gives me routes and times to choose from, which is great for being on time to work. As far as the window mount, my car def has more of a cockpit-like feel to it. I mounted it so that it blocks a portion of my hood from view vs. the street, etc. It's got a great mount, GPS head unit just sticks to it magnetically, enabling me to simply pull it off and put it away without fiddling with the mount. Snap on, snap off.

I too, would like to take a look at your youtube channel. I had narowed it down to 2 different cams. The napoer 1080 and the Oldshark 3". Both are at $60.
I now see the difference between the $30 napoer and the $60. The viewing angle of the lens. Looks like the $30 is a 140 degree angle and the $60 is a 170 degree angle, the same as the Oldshark.
I hate having things in my line of sight, so I have no interest in the GPS feature.Originally posted by LeahBest balls I've had in my mouth in a while.
