Thanks for the heads up, I can go ahead and scratch off CO as our retirement State. Fuck that noise, I can't stand mosquitoes much less ticks.
When we were there for vacation in early June, we were there for a week and I don't think i got a single bite and I was all over that State...
You were lucky. This year is one of the worst ever, from what they are saying on the news. I really don't know why, but I know it doesn't have anything to do with the winters. I hate mosquitos too. But the reality is that way up here, we only have to deal with them for a couple of months. And honestly, I've never seen them this bad in past summers. We did have a problem with black flies one year when I came up to camp, but I haven't seen that happen again, so it must go in cycles. By September, it will be perfect here again.

Aren't they attracted to CO? Probably all the additional smoke coming out of the state these days...

The mosquitos were very thick in Yellowstone even with a few nights that got below 32. When we rolled the window down at the entrance station there was a thick cloud!

They'll swarm around you here in huge clouds that remind me of those clouds of gnats back in TX that just follow you around. These fuckers seem to go for my eyeballs, ears, nostrils, etc. I get bites all over through my clothes. Off helps for 15-20 minutes, at best.

Ticks are horrible this year, too. Kids and dogs getting paralyzed from them all up in the news. Even people visiting CO, going home, and then getting all fucked up from ticks they got here.

This state still rocks, but the mosquitos and ticks are no joke.
2017 is going to be a terrible year for ticks, 2 years after a big acorn season. Rocky mtn spotted fever scares the fuck out of me, numerous co-workers and neighbors have contracted it from the ticks out here.

As soon as I come inside from working out back in the woods clothes go in the washer and I hit the shower. Before I leave the farm I hunt I take all my gear off and toss it in a bag and wash as soon as I'm home. Fuck ticks.
