The only thing I would have done differently is maybe not give them the fender flares until they provided a written quote. I know distance is likely an issue for you, nor did you go into this with the mindset that they were trying to fuck you. Hindsight and all.

Given the other stuff you posted, I'd be blasting their asses on every social media site possible a minute after picking up the truck.

Sounds like a crooked shop using another crooked shops pricing for reference in an attempt to save face. Either that, or it's 'cause you're black.

the authorization you signed likely has a POA on it. if that is true, deposit that check and use it as the bargaining tool as said above. the shop may try to get the insurance to cancel it and send another directly to them because they likely have a POA.

as said too, i would let the insurance know what is going on, especially if the shop is a DRP for them.

good luck. the shop has a serious set on them if they are cutting your truck up without written authorization for that actual repair.

Ya, I just ordered them and had them shipped directly to the shop.

I also ordered new bumpers and had those shipped to the shop. They were going to take everything to Line-X and have them do the flares, bumpers, and rocker panels. Luckily, they did give me that quote ($2300) before they had it done, and they told me there was going to be a trip charge on top of that, PLUS they were going to put the bumpers on the truck and have Line-X spray them that way, when I wanted them sprayed off the truck, so they could do the back side. It would have probably ended up being $3000 or more. When they quoted me that, I called Line-X myself, and was quoted $1000. I told this shop to just let me take care of it myself. Seems like they were trying to gouge me there, too!

Ok now that you have that resolved answer me this, what fucking insurance company fixed a damned roll over! That is crazy, I have been in the business 16 years and only repaired a Jeep that tipped on its side in the mud for 15k... And it was a pain. I have totaled every other rollover and everyone else I know does too.

It just rolled onto the passenger side. They had to replace the front fender, both doors, and bedside. None of the pillars or other structure of the truck had any damage. The total cost to repair it was just under $13k.

I've got probably 25 sq ft in each door (x4).

I've got a layer of Dynamat Xtreme on the inside-facing surface of the outside door skin, a layer on the outside-facing surface of the inner door skin, a layer on the inside-facing surface of the inner door skin, and a layer of MLV over that on the inside-facing door skin (behind the door panel). Theyn had to replace all of that material on two doors, and then a square of acoustic foam behind the custom door pod that holds my 8" midbass driver up front, plus all of the labor to put that in, and then the labor to cut a hole in the front door for clearance for the speaker pod.

That pales in comparison to what I've got on the rest of the truck. It's excessive, but it sounds and feels like a bank vault.

Mostly, ya. I work from home, so I don't drive it anywhere except for the trails and then trips back to Texas. I need it to be nice and comfy for those long road trips, but rugged and purpose-built for some fun around here. I admit, it's a strange combination. Custom interior, new leather, gobs of audio equipment, and then a 4-link suspension, bumpers, winches, 40" tires, plus onboard air and lockers coming soon. It's no mall crawler, that's for sure!

Man, the Line-X guys just quoted me a really good price to spray the whole truck. I was just gonna have them do the flares, bumpers, and bottom half of the truck where it's tan now, and leave the rest white paint, but they've got me thinking...
