  • Mounting and Balancing tires...

I went to Firestone to get two tires mounted and balanced ( 35 series 18's ) they quoted me 120 dollars just to mount and balance ...

I thought the guy was just joking so I laughed , then asked " no really how much" ...turns out he was serious ... I called a few others ( discount tire, goodyear) to check prices .. they were all that high or higher.

I went to a small tire shop in Forney and got it done for 30 bucks tire disposal included ..

It just floored me that it would have cost that much to get two tires put on...

Discount was higher? That's unusual. Prices must vary quite a bit from store to store.

Discount has always been way overpriced in my neck of the woods. Walmart or the local GM dealer usually does it the cheapest with modern equipment. At Walmart I've had them balance eight tires even after I told them not to....

I got a quote of $36 each to mount/balance tires at Discount. Ended up finding a small local place to do it for $40 for all 4.

i always go to the same little tire shop by my work. $8-10 a tire and i've never had a problem.

bike tires are just as bad, most place will still charge $18-20 each OFF the bike. i know the machine is $5000, but for 5 minutes of fairly unskilled labor, come on.
